I know, I know. It’s not cool. I’m sure Richard Osman doesn’t squeal and do a little happy dance every time he walks int Waterstones or Blackwells, but I’m not cool, OK? Never have been and I’m not going to start now.
I’m going to tell the assistants that it’s my book and would they like it signing. I’m going to get a ‘Signed by the Author’ sticker on the front. I’m going to take photos and I’m very much going to move it to the eye-level shelf and make sure it is front out, not spine out.
And do a little happy dance.
40 Days with Labyrinths
You can read an extract in the Church Times, by clicking this link
Here’s a review from Amazon:
40 Days with labyrinths is available from the publishers (DLT with a sale on at the mo, I think, try the discount code SPRING), from Amazon, Eden, Barnes and Noble, all other good bookshops (if yours doesn’t have it on the shelves, get them to order it in) and, of course, Waterstones.
Not sure where to type this, but thankyou for your interview on the back of Church Times on June 16th.
As a mathematician I was delighted to read something valuing maths! I did my Maths BA in 1969 and my Theology MA in 2019. The Oxford Maths Inst website says “Mathematicians seek truth, beauty and elegance…” and I can see obvious theological parallels! Wishing you every success with your LLM and your PhD! There is a lovely quote from a friend of Madeleine L’Engle, “You have to write the book that wants to be written – if its too hard for adults you write it for children!”

I like the Mother Clanger alias. I’ve never quoted from the Clangers in my essays – big omission! Must rectify!

Ha Ha Ha! If you quote from the Clangers in an essay, I promise I’ll cite you! 😀
BTW, I noticed ACM in your address. Association of Computing Machinery?

Yes indeed. I’ve been a member of ACM since the seventies I think. Managed to get to 3 Siggraph conferences, amazing experiences. The best UK conference I got to was IAP – I ended up sitting next to Roger Penrose for lunch…

Hi Fay, would you ever consider providing the images of your labyrinths as downloads? I have started to use your books with groups, especially with young people, and I would love to give them copies of the labyrinths to try them themselves; I would be very happy to pay to download them. for my own use, I photocopied the ones in the book so that I can use the same labyrinth more than once. I’ve got quite a connection now!

Hi, sounds great, but you’d need to contact the publisher for permission if this is for more than personal use. Contact Darton Longman & Todd and ask for David Maloney. blessings
